This week I have had the pleasure of sitting down to talk to Emma Moore about her upcoming EP release. Emma Moore has been in the Country music business for around six years now, producing a number of fantastic songs along the way. Recently she has received her first nomination for ‘Best North West Solo artist’ at the North West Music Awards.
I asked Emma what has kept her busy throughout the lockdown. Like many of us, Emma lost her job at the beginning due to lack of funding, her plans of working on live sets and creating video content were cut short. Emma regrouped and focused on what she could control at the time. She started working on marketing herself as an artist and focusing on the best ways to engage fans without live gigs to draw them in. Finding motivation to write was hard but Emma kept her motivation up, usually by watching reruns of Grey’s anatomy! She also took a job in retail over the Christmas period to keep herself busy. Emma counts herself lucky as she still lives with her parents and can focus on her music. She has also had them around throughout lockdown to help motivate her.
Promotion of her EP
With the promotion of this EP, Emma took a unique approach and offered people subscribed to her mailing list an exclusive first listen. However, this was no ordinary email! Every day over a 6 day period Emma sent out one song from her EP.
● Along with the link to the track, the page had all the lyrics, a behind the lyrics section, the perfect drink to pair the song (if you want too!) and some super secret information!!
● Each page also had a chat box for listeners to provide feedback on the song of the day and just to have a general chit chat.
● Emma also had special merchandise created to replicate each song in her EP which is available only to her fans on her mailing list.
She received a great response from her fans, reading the comments on her songs pages, the EP resonates well with everyone who has listened.
I had the absolute pleasure of being sent Emma’s EP along with the pages and not only am I crazily in love with the marketing strategy implored here but also EVERY. SINGLE. TRACK spoke to me in ways others just haven’t! It felt like Emma had climbed inside my head and wrote down everything I was going through at the time. I personally can’t wait to pre-order the EP and will be telling everyone else to do the same. As I write this, Emma's new single ‘Blinded’ has just debuted on Country Radio UK with Jess T and is definitely one of my favourites, make sure to check it out!!
When asked what she had learnt from the EP Emma stated how with every listen she finds something different, be it the sound or the lyrics and can connect it to other songs. I fully agree with this, having listened a fair few times myself I can find a story being told throughout the EP.
What’s next?
Next up for Emma is to focus on the release of her brilliant new EP, focus on the marketing and getting people behind pre-ordering it. She also has a tour to reschedule since it couldn’t go ahead in 2020. As previously mentioned Emma had planned on putting time and effort into recording live videos with her band, as live performances have been unable to happen this has now been postponed until gigs and festivals open up again, which is, thankfully, happening soon!!!
You can catch Emma at the Buckle and Boots festival 30th July-1st August 2021
